Why did you run and what do you hope to achieve as a SCR Member?
I want to be able to make a difference. I care strongly about actually taking action to make students’ lives better – not just mere platitudes. Your university experience is the most important issue to me. This means proper support through a well-funded and accessible counselling department. A club program that supports a diversity of clubs to suit a variety of interests. A program that assists clubs to run events and build their membership base. University is more than just coming to classes and leaving, it needs encourage you to explore! If you ever have any questions want to chat, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Why did you run and what do you hope to achieve as a SCR Member?
My drive to run for the LTSA was based on my passions for advocacy and social justice. I believe it is important that any representative decision-making body is made up of diverse voices and experiences. I bring to the team a social worker perspective; I have worked extensively in the field for the past 4 years, complementing my volunteer work with a range of different community service organisations. I currently specialise in women’s and sex worker rights, but also have experience in working with other marginalised people and communities. I am someone who can think critically, who is not afraid to question and challenge dominant societal views and structures that have led to the disadvantage and division in our society. My aim is to advocate for and to improve student wellbeing, by identifying and addressing the barriers and external systemic issues that impact on positive student experience, wellbeing, inclusiveness, and development. My work will involve collaboration in decision making processes, focusing on empowerment, ensuring that every voice is important, unique and must be heard. I will continue to challenge any potential oppressive, discriminatory, or disempowering practices, aiming to work to expand choice and opportunities for all students, especially for those from disadvantaged or marginalised backgrounds.
