Why did you run and what do you hope to achieve as a SCR Member?
I ran for a position on the Student Representative Council at the Wodonga Campus because I believe that students need to have a united voice within the University environment. For the first time in the history of LTU, we are a united voice. This allows the students access to the decisions made by the LTU and we have an opportunity to shape those decisions for the betterment of the student body both academically and socially. The opportunity to work collaboratively with the university allows students to be part of the solution and not part of the problem. What I hope to achieve is a representative council who is there for the students and to make student life better.

What are your interests outside of university?
My background is in the Dept. of Defence. Having been a soldier for just over 20 years, and as an individual who lives with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, explains my interest in Psychology and my wish to aid former and current serving members of Defence and Emergency services. As you may be aware, I am one of the founding Board Directors of the La Trobe Student Association (LTSA), and the former Secretary of the Wodonga Student Association (WSA). As a transwoman, I am passionate about LGBTIQ rights and have been involved in advocating for changes to the legislation and laws governing human rights at both a state and federal level for the LGBTIQ community.

Why did you run and what do you hope to achieve as a SCR Member?
Wodonga is a great campus, although it is a small campus it has a lot of potential, hence why I joined the Student Council. I am really passionate about student issues and increasing representation for the regional campuses. We need to build and grow our clubs to be more active with regular big events and create a more supportive social ‘uni experience’. The LTSA is going to be a great way to make that happen together.

Preferred Pronouns: He/His
Position: Residential Officer
Campus: Albury Wodonga

Why did you run and what do you hope to achieve as a SCR Member?
Since finishing high school (a couple years ago), I have had some time to; learn about human experience in the world though reading; accrue valuable perspectives from working with children with disability; and of course, develop great friendships with others through study. Through these experiences and my novel pathway in psychology so far, I have come to appreciate a person-centred perspective in my behaviour and thoughts. This perspective recognises that while students make up the numbers of a university, there is an incredible depth and uniqueness to each individual’s university experience and world during this time. Drawing on my first weeks of study, I’ve learnt that the wellbeing of university students is higher when they feel a sense of belonging to the university. For this reason and more, I wish to create an atmosphere on campus that fulfills our too humanly desire for belonging and community, through student generated events and initiatives; and to bring to the student council, the attributes of approachability and enthusiasm, directed toward the betterment of individual student experiences.
