Secret Places is a love letter to the various La Trobe campuses. Half walking tour, half audio art experience; Secret Places highlights the hidden gems that the La Trobe campuses have to offer.
These submissions will then be transformed into creative writing pieces that anyone can listen to while exploring our campuses.
This project will start at the Bundoora campus, with a QR code based audio tour being released in week 8 of semester. We hope to extend this project to all the campuses of La Trobe in 2022.
The Secret Places project takes place on Indigenous Land and acknowledges the bond and continuing connection that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to the land, sea, sky, and waterways.
Choose your own adventure on how to get involved:
1. Submit your favourite place and one of our writers will create a fictional story about this space;
2. Submit your favourite place with a short story or creative piece about why it’s your favourite place, in any format.
3. If you’re interested, you can also jump on board as a writer or an actor to create and record your story, or work on someone else’s.
An Example from Us:
My favourite place on campus is under the bridge that leads to the outdoor Amphitheatre. The bridge goes over the Moat. Our campus’ Moat, a Moat of our very own. Under this bridge, I have looked for the turtles that dwell in the water in the cooler months, kept my eyes out for snakes when it’s warm, and watched a scene from King Lear, the one where Glouster’s eyes are “put out”. To see and not to see.
